Big day for us at the National Centre for Nuclear Research and Radioisotope Centre POLATOM as our MARIA Reactor celebrates 50th anniversary!
During the ceremony, it was repeatedly emphasized that MARIA Reactor is a unique example of Polish research infrastructure with significance extending beyond Poland’s borders. “For us MARIA Reactor is crucial element in serving the needs of domestic and foreign customers in the nuclear medicine industry by providing innovative solutions to protect health, which is the highest value for us” – said during his speech Tomasz Dziel, director of Radioisotope Centre POLATOM.
In parallel, there is another reason for celebration today. On October 25th 1897, Andrzej Sołtan, one of the most outstanding Polish physicists of the 20th century, was born in Warsaw. Amongst his numerous achievements, in 1955 he became the founder and first director of the Institute of Nuclear Research in Świerk.
