Research
The National Center for Nuclear Research, Radioisotope Center POLATOM offers:
- design of experiments on animals (mice, rats) using radioactive compounds,
- high standard of housing of animals intended for experiments thanks to appropriately equipped animal houses: conventional cages, individually ventilated cage (IVC) systems and metabolic cages for mice,
- animals with SPF healthy status are imported from the world’s prestigious breeding centres: Charles River and Janvier Labs,
- animals with a conventional healthy status are imported from prestigious breeding centres in the world and Poland,
- groups of experimental animals are selected by age, body weight, sex,
- specialized apparatus for the study of accumulated radioactivity in the body of animals: scintillation system equipped with a probe for measuring the activity of radionuclides: 99mTc, 131I, 177Lu, 90Y, 68Ga, 18F, 64Cu, 111In, optical imaging apparatus,
- personnel qualified to carry out the following procedures: organ distribution, subcutaneous induction of cancerous tumours, administration of tested preparations by intravenous, intraperitoneal, intragastric and subcutaneous routes, blood collection,
- qualified personnel trained in transgenic animal experiments.
All experimental animal housing and laboratory rooms are air-conditioned through a state-of-the-art system to ensure optimal conditions for the maintenance of laboratory animals. Both the animal holding area and the experimental area are under constant monitoring of environmental conditions.
Certificates and Regulations
